Autumn Days — version 2

Catholic

An Autumn Day in Paisley

Treasured things, they disappear
On Earth Her Angels tread,
With autumn leaves, another year,
Falls down upon our heads

To every earthly love there comes
The shadow of decay
Revealing Joys of Gentle Love
To help our weary way

And while the wind gives up it's moans
To scare in mountains steep
She kisses our dear Children's brow
And ushers them to sleep

A sharpened morning's heartbeat fast
It fills our minds with dread
Of passing years and silent tears
That youthfulness has fled?

Yet on a harp, a tune is played
A song for every ear
Brings warmth upon low frosty ground
And icey snow peaked fears

And if we stopped to hear Her Harp
A tune that's gently strained
Such a warmth within our hearts
Would come from sweet refrains

We'd hear the song in unison
On Autumn's icey hours
And at the homes of lonely folk
Who stare from golden towers

And as young men in later years
Like Autumn, grow and change
The Harp will say much more than Fall
Of Love which e'er remains

An everlasting song of Love
Through seasons, space and time
A Love which warms eternities
Which no man can define.

A strain which sweeps the coldest heart
With gladness faith and joy
She plays Her tune eternally
For all who will enjoy.
In County Square or River Cart
Her Tune of Love plays on
And from Her Love good acts do come
Playing their own sweet songs
