Laban's Death. Watching through Night's weary hours Scheming, waiting for our plans Vain are weapons to protect them In this realm of mortal man Just like Nephi gone before us Waiting trusting in our God When to go and when to tarry Lest we fall beneath his rod As we face our earthly Laban To behead at every turn Trusting God and his commanding To his Kingdom we will run Yet with sword we cannot conquer Nor with thoughts of human mind Only in quiet understanding Trusting on his Great Design And O the Labans daily facing Our darker thoughts they nightly call Ever weaving lighted shadows Upon the flickering cavern walls Fight ye not by earthly slinging Nor with pointed sword in hand Find your trust in God our Father And walk in peace with every man Deep beneath the ocean frothing Lies a stillness e'er in peace A place to find our daily rescue A place to put our mind at ease Are your thoughts today like Laban? Arrows aimed at fellow men? Lay your weapons down before you Let your pride no more offend Ne'er with words can you defeat him nor with stones or swords of gold Armed alone with God's forgiveness Just like our Prophets, men of old Aim your thoughts in 'pinions higher Than envy, sin or lust and greed Filled with Love for every person Reflecting God in word and deed.
