A Gentle Presence walks with me Across the mountain way Through the trees and thorny paths From dawn to dusk each day Their words they heal my stubborn pride And let my mind be still They bind my own self righteousness And let me do God's will When I err from this sweet path The night comes dark and cold They hold me in their mantles close And keep me in the fold And when the storms and mists come down With all their promised dreams They keep me on the narrow road However fair they seem They teach me Love, in footpaths long And those I chance to see They help me follow and rejoice And greet each one with glee
