Easter Sunday

Christian

Why seek ye living by the dead
Today the Angels call
Just like the lore of yesteryear
Great men they come and fall

The giants we knew of long ago
Who kept our laws intact
Towering figures in our lives
Lie now in graveyards black

And what of gadgets, phones and sticks
Which in our world distract
Failing plastic bits of iron
Which keep our minds intact?

Yet none can keep us from His call
To silenced quietened minds
Through the music and loud words
His silence waits through time

A silence we ourselves must find
To commune with our hearts
To slowly roll the stone away
To brighter clearer facts

And in the tomb he lay so still
Alone as man can be
And there he found Himself with God
To understand and see

Upon our tomb of worldly lives
And answers we must find
Alone we go with Jesus' hand
To find our rest inside

For no worldly shiny thing
Can give the peace we seek
Only trusting in His word
Can make us whole and meek

A day ravaged by worldly sense
Was once a day of peace
And where thoughts were on one crucified
Now apathy's unleashed

Yet upon our minds the Angels stir
To all whose minds are able
Which rise above the Chocolate eggs
And pleasures of the table
To a peaceful joyful power
Where all men come to rest
Through the empty promises
Which call and try to test.

The stone is rolled and not just once
But every waiting hour
Oh the Love and Joy and peace
O gentle, Loving Power.
